Designing & Implementing Solar Energy Projects for Rural Communities

The course aims to build the capacity of organizations and individuals from developing countries, enabling them to apply the enhanced knowledge and skills in large-scale generation of sustainable livelihoods utilizing solar PV technology. It will explain the extent to which solar PV technology can be utilized in improving the energy access in rural areas through creation of energy enterprises at local level to meet the local energy needs. The course will cover the following topics: - Introduction to the Solar PV technology
- PV Systems – Assessment, Design, Economics and Operation
- Concept of Livelihood Systems Approach
- Project Management and Design of Business Models
- Monitoring and evaluation of Projects
- Exposure Visits to Solar Projects & Manufacturing Facility

The uniqueness of the course lies in the fact that it not only provides an understanding of the solar PV technology, concept of sustainable livelihoods and their synergy but also provides exposure to practical case studies from the field. During the course duration, through participant led interactive group exercises, innovative service delivery and business models will be discussed and attempt will be made to implement 2-3 select models under the LaBL campaign in respective countries of the participants.
